Getting to Know ABST Mexico: Dr. Keith Taylor

Hola Nuestro Amigos y Familia,

To begin the countdown until we leave for Merida this Saturday, we would like to introduce the actual final piece to our group: Dr. Keith Taylor, the president of Gannon University! Here's what he had to say:

Name: Keith Taylor
Major: Physical Therapy, Biomechanics, Anatomy, President
Year: Old – Ph.D. when most of you were entering kindergarten

Q: Why Mexico?
A: I have not been to this nearby neighbor and have relatives that live in Mexico. I want to learn about the culture, meet the people in their communities and support the needs of their communities however I can.

Q: What is one thing you'd like to learn more about before venturing to Merida?
A: Need to improve my Spanish and to dig into the regional culture in and around Merida.

Q: What words do you live by?
A: “You are responsible for yourself, your actions and inaction, your happiness and struggles, your success and failures, live every day to go to sleep happy and at peace with yourself.” My Mother – Mary Taylor

Q: If there were ten more hours in the day, what would you do?
A: Spend more time with my family – wife and kids and father and siblings

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island with only one object, what would you want that object to be?
A: Knife if my cell phone wouldn’t work to call for help of course

Q: What is something you find interesting about yourself?
A: I don’t know how to stop thinking. It can get tiresome but never a dull moment.

Q: What is one of your personal attributes that you feel will contribute to the positive growth/outcome of the trip?
A: I am pretty agreeable and flexible but can enthusiastically motivate action when we seem to need it.

Q: Describe your dream job.
A: If this isn't it, then being a tennis and golf pro living near the beach with Mary.

Q: What should Wegmans include in their buffet?
A: Butternut squash ravioli (I’ll agree with this, sounds delicious)

Q: What inspires you?
A: Seeing others strive to be happy and healthy
